Since Whitney Houston’s passing, many people have said she was in a relationship with a woman.
And now Rosie O’Donnell has said the iconic ‘I Will Always Love You’ singer was part a secret group of famous lesbians.
On Watch What Happens Live, the TV host said she knew Houston and Robyn Crawford were a couple.
‘I knew that they were together,’ she said.
‘I was friends with a lot of very athletic older lesbian women who were in the WNBA – all these basketball playing women.
‘I knew that, I knew it for a very long time. Everyone sort of knew it.
‘So I thought it was very surprising when Clive Davis came out and said he never discussed her being gay.
‘I don’t believe that for one minute.’
The documentary Whitney: Can I Be Me, released this year, examined the singer’s relationship with women.
‘Robyn was probably the only person, at least that I met, who completely understood Whitney,’ filmmaker Rudi Dolezal said at the film’s premiere.
‘She was her confidante and that was the source of the friction and dilemma Whitney was in.’
The two women met as teenagers in New Jersey and stayed close as she rose to superstardom with a long string of hits and a several movie roles.
But in 1999, pressure from Brown and other family members led to the two women parting ways.
Crawford has declined to comment about her alleged relationship with Houston.
