Adam Rippon has ‘turned down a role’ at broadcaster NBC – so he can continue to support teammates who are still competing.
Rippon has become the star of this year’s Winter Olympics after winning over the hearts of the world with his social media wit, likeable personality and his gracious figure skating skills.
He managed to win a bronze medal in his first event – but his likeability has seen him become the highlight of the games.
Rippon won’t leave his fellow Olympians behind
Now, Rippon says NBC has approached him to become a correspondent at the Pyeongchang games.

However he turned them down as he would have been required to move out of the Olympic Village.
I am flattered that NBC wanted me to work as a correspondent for them here in PyeongChang. Doing this would require me to leave Team USA and move out of the Olympic Village. I don't want to do that so I had to declined the opportunity.

Taking to Twitter, Rippon said: ‘I am flattered that NBC wanted me to work as a correspondent for them here in PyeongChang.
‘Doing this would require me to leave Team USA and move out of the Olympic Village.
‘I don’t want to do that so I had to decline the opportunity.’
Adam continued to explain his decision, saying he wanted to return the support he received during his famous run on the rink.
I love being on Team USA and representing our country. My teammates were there for me during my events, and now I NEED to be there for them. I look forward to being with them, and I’m very excited for the rest of the competition. Go Team USA!!!

‘2018 is wild girl’
Finally, in the true spirit of the internet, Rippon also joked that he hadn’t been approached directly – but had rather ‘found out’ about the offer on Twitter.

A Pennsylvania preacher claims he wasn’t up to anything sinful with the naked man police found tied up next to him in a parked car.
A neighbor called police Friday night claiming to have seen a man with no clothes on get out of a car in Homestead, a town about ten miles outside of Pittsburgh. When authorities arrived, they found 61-year-old George Nelson Gregory sitting in the back seat, and a completely nude man bound with nylon rope sitting up front.
“I have nothing to hide, I did nothing wrong,” Gregory told KDKA-TV after his arrest for lewdness and indecent exposure.

Gregory claimed he’d ministered to the man for several years, and both he and his wife had tried to get him help.
“I was counseling a young man with a drug problem,” Gregory, a pastor in Munhill, insisted. “It did turn strange, but it wasn’t my doing… And I was adamant that I’m not participating in that way. That’s when the police pulled up, and they assumed things, but I’m standing by my story.”
Gregory admits the man took his clothes off and propositioned him, “but I will deny, on a stack of Bibles with God as my witness, that I did nothing.”
Double negatives aside, Gregory didn’t explain how his unnamed passenger managed to tie himself up.
And the actual criminal report tells a different story: According to the arresting officers, Gregory told them he and the other man “meet up from time to time to play with each other.”

Congratulations are in order for TV icon Ryan Murphy.
The creator of Glee and American Horror Story, is joining streaming giant Netflix.
The company made the announcement last night, with the New York Times reporting the deal to be worth $300 million (£416 million, €337 million).
Ryan’s company Ryan Murphy Productions last year scored another hit with Feud.
It starred Hollywood legends Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon as Hollywood legends Joan Crawford and Bette Davis, respectively.
His new shows for the service will be named Ratched and The Politician. He was previously with 21st Century Fox.
‘The history of this moment is not lost on me’
Murphy’s enthusiasm is plain to see in his official statement.
He commented: ‘The history of this moment is not lost on me. I am a gay kid from Indiana who moved to Hollywood in 1989 with $55 dollars in savings in my pocket.

‘[…] So the fact that my dreams have crystallized and come true in such a major way is emotional and overwhelming to me.
‘I am awash in genuine appreciation for Ted Sarandos, Reed Hastings and Cindy Holland at Netflix for believing in me and the future of my company which will continue to champion women, minorities and LGBTQ heroes and heroines.’
He also said: ‘I am honored and grateful to continue my partnership with my friends and peers at Fox on our existing shows.’

‘Unfaltering dedication to excellence’

Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer at Netflix commented: ‘Ryan Murphy’s series have influenced the global cultural zeitgeist, reinvented genres and changed the course of television history.
‘His unfaltering dedication to excellence and to give voice to the underrepresented, to showcase a unique perspective or just to shock the hell out of us, permeates his genre-shattering work.’
He furthermore added: ‘From Nip/Tuck – our first licensed series – to American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson and American Horror Story, we’ve seen how his brand of storytelling captivates consumers and critics across the globe.’
He also said: ‘His celebrated body of work and his contributions to our industry speak for themselves. And we look forward to supporting Ryan in bringing his broad and diverse stories to the world.’
Murphy’s work has won multiple Emmys and Golden Globes.
This year, he launched The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story – Season 2.
The show stars Glee actor Darren Criss and also Livin’ La Vida Loca singer Ricky Martin.
He first found fame with the hit show Nip/Tuck, about a plastic surgery center. It ran for six seasons, from 2003 to 2010.
Ryan also directed the 2010 movie adaptation of Elizabeth Gilbert’s memoir Eat, Pray, Love. The film starred Julia Roberts.

"Our salad chef believes homosexuality is a sin, so he won't be creating any of our signature salads for you."
Jimmy Kimmel used a tongue-in-cheek sketch to demonstrate why denying wedding cakes to same-sex couples doesn’t make sense.
In a recent bit on Jimmy Kimmel Live! the 50-year-old host discussed a judge’s ruling in favor of a homophobic California baker who refused to create a wedding cake for a lesbian couple.
It’s a big issue—one, as Kimmel reminded his audience, currently before the Supreme Court.
He took the California judge’s logic to the next level, though, playing a waiter who lets a gay diner know he can’t serve her any of the restaurant’s fresh signature salads because the chef homophobic.

“Tony won’t make that for you because it violates his religious beliefs. However, I could bring you a salad he made yesterday, before he knew you were gay!”
He also informs his guests about a host of other restrictions on their dining experience based on the staff’s beliefs.
